The story goes that in the 15th century, a Chinese princess, along with her 3000 strong entourage, came to Malacca to marry the Sultan. The combined cultures of Malay and Chinese formed a unique sub-culture known as Peranakan. A lasting mark was made on designs, clothing, food, and the healing traditions. As far as we know, this is the only spa that begins the pre-treatment ritual with a shampoo, while the guest watches black and white movies from the 1920's  overhead.  The Majestic Malacca is enjoying its second heyday.
