It was during a research trip to Hawaii at breakfast one morning that co-owner, Richard Holland, architect Nunzio Desantis, then with HKS, and Sylvia were discussing the ocean connection with the spa. It was Nunzio who popped up with the"pearl" of an idea. A classic frenzy of 'quick sketches on napkins,' so to speak, and we returned with the open oyster shell with treatment pearls embedded within.

The highlight of our research in Baha was finding and befriending curandera, Senora Josefina. She blessed the spa with her wisdom, herbal recipes, and presence offering consultations to staff and guests alike. Though Josefina has retired, her mark and contributions to the success of the spa remains. Muchas gracias, Josefina!

As with many projects, management companies and ownership sometimes change. What began as an Auriga Spa, and the Capella brand, is now Luna Y Mar at the Pedregal Resort. The spa, spirit, and service are still the same, though concept and some treatments are new. Spa Director, Alan Navarrete, an opening member of the spa, continues to make sure each and every guest visit is remarkable.
